“All That Glitters…”

“Twenty years ago we began studying how people become wealthy.

Initially, we did it just as you might imagine, by surveying people in so-called upscale neighborhoods across the country.

In time, we discovered something odd.

Many people who live in expensive homes and drive luxury cars do not actually have much wealth.

Then, we discovered something even odder: Many people who have a great deal of wealth do not even live in upscale neighborhoods.”

It’s reading stuff like that that makes me update my life’s goal because they remind me to have the right thinking and the right associations.

I get my thinking right then I will take the right actions that attract the things I want for my life.

Thank you.

I love you.

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Being Better Than Your Old Self

htwfaip”The way to get things done,” says  [Charles] Schwab, “is to stimulate competition. I do not mean in a sordid, money-getting way, but in the desire to excel.”

Ran our of characters for me to post this on Twitter so I’m posting it here.

Thought this was a cool quote.

Competing to be better than who you are.

From a book I’m reading again by Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends and Influence People.

Thank you.

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

I love you.

How Was Your Average, Perfect Day?

I read a beautiful blog post, shared by my team leader in the work group Whatsapp (how I despise these groups) titled The Perfect Average Day.

Like the English saying, I walked a mile in her shoes.

Or was it her high heels.

It was relatable.

Well written.

I loved it.

But some of my work colleagues didn’t.

Commenting about how she should use the opportunities within her company to better her living conditions.

To better HER perfect, average day.

Another commented about how there’s nothing special about her day since there are others who go through worse.

Another commented on what kind of response did the writer want? Compassion?

In the back of mind I thought, guys…it’s not a competition.

It’s not about compassion.

Why the hostility?

Is it shame, or embarrassment?

Having some parts of your life displayed like that for all to see, maybe making you feel intimidated?

Or was it because it was a woman who wrote that story?

Did she struck a cord maybe?

This was because I believed she wrote that just to share a part of her life with a receptive audience.

Just because she writes and that’s what writers do.

No hidden agendas.

Maybe that’s the writer in me talking.

Maybe they are acting this way because it’s one of those photos that don’t make it to their Instagrams.

Because it has no filter.

Too real.

In the world of the Internet, there is no such thing as over sharing.

So instead of pointing out their insecurities, I decided to blog about it here.

I do my best to avoid an argument.

It’s like what this book I’m re-reading says,

“A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.”
How To Make Friends and Influence People.

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Who You With?

heroes

I didn’t really get the concept of fighting for what you want.

Not consciously.

I’m a lover so this fighting thing is foreign to me.

But when I took a step back to see how things are currently for me.

I see myself wondering further away from, what I thought, was my path to freedom.

A path worth fighting for.

Reminds me of a CD I listened to about by farmer turned multimillionaire business owner about feeding the dream.

Protecting the dream.

There are lots of dream stealers out there.

Yourself included.

So dunking you mind in an environment of people that keep your dream alive, is vital.

Not only for your ultimate goal in life but for your everyday success as well.

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Can You Really Duplicate Success?

I don’t think you can duplicate success.

Well, that was what I thought couple of days ago when I drafted this page.

Then I remembered what Anthony Robbins said that through modeling someone who has done already achieved what you want, then you can duplicate their success.

It made me mad, because it showed that the only one truly responsible for my success is ME.

The only one truly responsible for your success is YOU.

I think people find comfort in blaming outside factors, sometimes that are beyond their control, as the reasons they can’t get ahead.

Which all falls under the same category called bullshit.

One of the ways I’ve found to safeguard my attitude against this was by keeping my mind above the gutter of office gossips and politics.

Bringing books to work – to read – helps.

Managed to bring a book with me to work to keep my mind focused on greatness, and how I could apply my current efforts to make my work life better instead of complaining about them.

I need to dominate my current position so that the success habits I am applying there can be passed on to my other activities.

I cannot choose to not perform at work and think that I will succeed outside of work.51xTBVE5KjL._SX317_BO1,204,203,200_

While striving for something better, I need to be the best at what I do now.

Hanging out with people who choose to see the negative and always nagging about how things will never change for the better is working backwards.

Busy re-reading Napoleon Hill’s Think And Grow Rich.

Pages falling out, and notes on made on the side, it gives me goosebumps reading it again because now I am coming at it from a different perspective.

Wanted to get an image to correspond with my recommended read for today, but the image I posted on my previous blog was HUGE (it wasn’t that bad though Musa come on…), and looked funny on that update – so I want to get the sizing right before I upload another.

Thank you.

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

I love you.

You Ever Noticed The Voices In Your Head?

Success lies outside your comfort zone.

I don’t know what that means for you, but for me this means that if what I am doing now is not producing the things you I want, then I might need to do the uncomfortable stuff that will give me the results I want.

Should you want different results then you do the uncomfortable to produce the new results that you want.

Self talk contributions to your current results.

It’s the words you tell yourself in your brain that lead to the actions you take.

And it’s from these actions that produce the results in your life.

So it hit me that if I use affirmations to influence the actions I take, then I might get the results I’m looking for.

Affirmations are just words you tell yourself.

The jive is that most, maybe not you but I am a victim of this, tell ourselves negative things most of the time.

Things that stop you from change.

I don’t know why hey…

…maybe it’s from people we associate most with or the TV we watch or the news we read or the Presidents we elect.

So now we are led to think that the world is negative.

That’s were things like affirmations come to play.

They interrupt the negative patterns we play in our minds and inject it with something positive.

I’m sure you can do your own research about how to structure your affirmations.

And then you can just repeat the phrase to program yourself into getting what you desire.

Phrases like the ones Bob Proctor used, author of You Were Born Rich: I am so happy and grateful now that… (this is were you list your desire).

In a nutshell, positive affirmations help you with moving out of your comfort zone.

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.
