Replace Your S** t Habits With Good Ones

I kept on seeing and hearing the name Simon Sinek being projected in my head.

Simon Sinek.

As if stuck in the frontal lobe of my brain.

Simon Sinek.

All this, haunting, while trying to sleep.

So here I am, writing about him.

I don’t know much about him.

He was first brought to my attention by a business partner who has a background in medicine.

Google Sinek.

From the little I know of him is that he’s a speaker.

He speaks about most about leadership. On what defines a leader and what drives her. Reasons why they are true leaders. Amongst other things.

He’s available on different social media sites, I also follow him on Twitter and IG.

He’s an author as well, he wrote Start With Why.

And there are lots of videos on the ‘Tube that have he’s talks.

I think there’s a vid of one of his talks I posted in one of my blogs that I thought was awesome.

There’s a bias that comes with being a leader that I want to take advantage of.

The monetary benefits of being paid to solve problems being one of them.

It’s as if followers create problems while leaders get paid to solve them.

So I’ve been listening to some of his audios as well. Him, John Maxwell and Gary Vaynerchuk are the 3 guys I’ve been filling my head with of late.

And Eric Thomas. #TGIM

I guess I can be obsessed with certain things in my life, such as my personal development.

If I don’t invest the time for it, noone else will.

Then I will just be like the rest of them, blaming my job or spouse or community or the government or the gods for my current, undesirable situations.

Not realising that the true problem here is me.

I fix me, all else gets fixed.

It’s an inside job.

Change the Way You Look at Things & Things You Look at Change

“When fate hands us a lemon, let’s try to make a lemonade”
~ Dale Carnegie,
author of “How to Make Friends and Influence People”

Sometimes when things happen, at first look like things aren’t going your way.

Only to find, in retrospect, that “things” were really pushing you in the direction of what you want and where you want to be.

For example:

The word is that BlackBerry will be doing away with their BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) which allows for unlimited internet downloads, unlimited internet access and social networking and emailing at a charge of R59 per month (about $6.46c per month).

Unlike America we South Africans, for the most part, do not have free internet.

Data bundles need to be bought and once they are done, you’re done.

So just imagine, with the amount of time you spend downloading apps and surfing the net and social networking, how much do you think you will send per month, at a charge of let’s say $1 per 1 MegaByte?

I guess one good thing that will come out of this would be longer BlackBerry battery life, due to the lack of usage of course.

I thought to myself, after reading the breathtaking headline (without reading the actually story mind you)*, that I might as well get myself an iPhone, since BlackBerry is doing away with BIS.

Truth be told it’s the latest BlackBerry devices (BlackBerry 10) that do not cater for BIS, anything prior does. So all is not lost ☺

And if I’m going to be paying for my data services I might as well be paying for something worth my money.

Sorry RIM, I mean BlackBerry… whatever you go by these days.

But Apple so far has nicer features than you & the only thing that was keeping me on board – like most users in other African countries & India I hear – was the BIS…. Short on BlackBerry anyone?

That’s when I stopped and said, “Wait a minute. I’ve always also wanted to get myself an iPhone, maybe this was the Universe’s way of pushing me towards getting one?”

One of the ways you can attract the things faster in your life is by imagining, with as much vivid detail as possible, how happy and excited and relieved you will feel once you have the thing you want in your possession.

Something that Dr. Joe Vitale spoke about which you can read more about when you go to this previous post.

When you act as if, like in the example of “dressing for your next promotion,” you activate a law of nature known as the Law of Attraction which pulls in opportunities for you to take action on.

But you need to act like you already HAVE what you want, sincerely and repeatedly, in order for the Law to work.

The action that will lead to you receiving the results YOU want, which in the above example happens to be a promotion.

Be creative and use every opportunity you can to speak and think and act as if the thing you most desire is already in your possession.

In truth you need to find reasons to feel good, if not to feel an improved feeling, not for the sake of goal achieving – but for the sake of feeling good.

Solutions and opportunities come to you when you are seeking an improved feeling than when you whine about how awful things are for you.

As truthfully as that may be for you currently, nothing improves until YOU improve.

Which is what you want at the end of the day right?

For things to get better?

It’s an inside job.

You need to work for things to work for you.

Like the title of one of Neale Donald Walsch’s books, When Everything Changes Change Everything.

With that said…Come to papa you wonderful iPhone you!!!

Thank you.

I love you.

PPS: Always find a way, in fact practice it often enough until it becomes a habit, to look for the good in all difficulties.

Find a reason on how you could benefit from it all.

Find the silver lining – that way the sun will always be shining for you while everything else around you seems is gloomy.

When I Say "Happy New Year" To You, I Mean It!

For this to be a happy new year (I use the words “new year” in the context of it being different from last year. We tend to celebrate even before we have conquered, I don’t know whether to call it arrogance or confidence…but I’ll go for the latter) one must focus on improving on last year’s habits.

Habits are just a series of actions you keep repeating.

You have come to do them so frequently that they have become so familiar to you, you end up doing them unconsciously. Now they have become a part you so much that you end up defending them. They now make up your belief. You have claimed them as your own, you have tagged them as who you are.

And since in life – like Dr. Wayne Dwyer puts it, you don’t attract what you want, you attract what you are – our inner beliefs (“A belief is only a thought you keep thinking.” – Abraham-Hicks) manifest into our outer habits and how these habits (repetitive unconscious actions) attract things to you, it is important to change your beliefs in order for you to receive “change” in your life.

Belief then Habits which are your Actions = Results

Pat O’Bryan says it best in how your inner game has to change before your outer game changes.

One has to invite one’s beliefs to change by adopting new habits.

The idea is to teach your beliefs why you are now adopting new habits – this is done through disciplines like autosuggestion in the form of:

  • visualizations,
  • affirmations,
  • frequent written statements of WHY you want to attract your goal(s),
  • meditation,
  • carrying goal cards around,
  • role playing,
  • and even this mirror technique I’ve just come across from the book I’ve been currently reading

– so that your beliefs match with the habits you are persistent in your implementation of them, which in turn calls on you to take Inspired Action that produces Deliberate Results in your life.

By action I mean those small yet deliberate actions that you do everyday which will one day (idealistically one should have a timeline – depending in which teachings you admire most) produce the results you want. i.e. Ask yourself, “If you kept on doing the things you are doing now for the next 20 years, are you going to be in the same place you are in or somewhere better?”

It’s those kind of inspired actions I am taking about.

Life rewards action.

That’s how anyone gets anything new in their lives, they adopt new actions to invite the news in their lives (I mean “news” in the sense of “new stuff”).

So as much as I would love to say a Happy New Year to you, I just wonder if there’s anything New about this Year for you to be Happy about?

But you’re probably not into this personal development BS & you probably like most of us out there relying on having a “cross your fingers” approach in life. You know, relying on the luck of the draw to give you that instant jackpot prize towards the things you want out of life?

How has that been working for you?

How has the last 5 years changed for you?

Are you any closer to your goals?

Do you even HAVE goals?

How can you measure success if you do not have goals?

How can you become successful when you don’t know how success looks like for you?

How would you know you have arrived?

When would you know to get excited and celebrate your success?

If you are still breathing, it is never too late to set goals for yourself and the plans, the steps you believe you need to take in order to accomplish these goals, starting right were you are right now and reaching for your goals.

Those small, easy to do, daily steps that when done with determination and consistency will make you achieve your desired chief definite goals.

How To Turn Your MS Word Docs Into PDFs…Well It’s At Least One Of The Ways

I always wondered how I could convert my Microsoft Office into a PDF.

Pat O’Bryan said I must try OpenOffice.org but, as we all know, the internet moves so fast that some of the sites you have as referrals get pulled from the net.

So I Googled “PDF GENERATOR” and out came http://www.anything2pdf.com amongst the list.

God bless Daniel Procter who happens to be a web developer over at http://www.danielprocter.com/ if that might interest you.

So I tried turning one of my MS Word docs into Adobe format and presto!

I can now go and show off to my friends on how techno savvy I am 😀

Been having some rough couple of weeks lately with me having to establish sources of income from thin air after quitting my job before settling my debts and car payments.

The days of having a job are played out in anyway so going back to a 9 to 5 would be going against the tide.

I built my castle in the air so now I guess it’s time to begin building the foundations beneath it.

How knows, maybe I will use http://moneyfromanywhere.com/ and sell ebooks for a living *cough cough* 🙂

What Age Will Follow This Information Age?

I was listening to a Tony Robbins audio clip through my iPod while I was walking around naked and herding cattle, where he mentioned that predicting the future will make you a successful person.

As in (no need to get excited I’m not a cattle herder & though I do enjoy walking around naked, I do not do it in public) filling a need before there’s a market for it.

Being a step ahead of the game and becoming a trendsetter. The lead pioneer of the industry you are in.

Like creating a market that did not exist before a person like you entered the scene.

What can you give to others that will make their lives better in exchange for money?

Give yourself 10 min to ponder (hehe I said “ponder” funny word that) on that for a while.

What are you good at, or you are experienced in, that you can package into a product or/and a service that you can sell to people who are willing to buy this part of you so to make their lives better?

Using people like Pat O’Bryan and [affiliate link] Les Brown to help you achieve this goal you might have of generating a 10,000s of $100 streams per month to your bank account…do the math, & see yourself surrounded by the lifestyle – last I checked the American Dollar was going for R7.067 to the South African Rand November 25, 2010 *salivating*

Because I believe the next age following this Information Age will be the Entrepreneurial Age.

I think this Age of the Entrepreneur will take many by storm because I feel some people are already jumping on this bandwagon, as subtle as this unconscious awakening is, people are coming to see for themselves the warnings that people like Robert T. Kiyosaki mentioned in his Rich Dad Poor Dad about the coming years.

About being prepared for the buckling up of the monetary system, yet again. A monetary system based on money that doesn’t exist – money is only energy, invisible, just like thought, therefore as powerful as when make it.

Lies, actually, which a whole lot of people are banking on, pun intended, to provide for them when they reach retirement.

Baby boomers were expecting this from the government and guess what happened to them when they retired in 2008? And what is stopping this from happening to you and me when we hit 60/65?

“Make lots of kids along the way so that we can move in with them when the government pension is not enough to pay for the bond (mortgage) water & electricity and food for the month?”

Wouldn’t it be nice to be that grandma or grandpa that your grandchildren come to to ask for money from?

As you live a life of excellent health and rejuvenated vigour, globetrotting, multiple sources of passive income earning, luxury hotel and cruise ship boarding, family foundation & legacy leaving old timer?

Because you prepared yourself for 2012.

Who knows when the next financial crash is going to be (maybe we should ask a German psychic dolphin for a prediction), but I would prefer getting richer and richer like I saw most of the rich elite doing when the latest financial crisis hit, and not relying on the self preserving government to get me back in the rat race (get up, go to work, get paid once a month, pay the bills, get broke, get up, go to work, get paid once a month, pay the bills, get broke, get up, got work…).

Is There More to Life?

wallace-wattles-quotes-6-1024x576

“There is a science of getting rich, and it is an exact science, like algebra or arithmetic.

There are certain laws which govern the process of acquiring riches, and once these laws are learned and obeyed by anyone, that person will get rich with mathematical certainty.”

~ Wallace Wattles

I get myself upset think of where I am – working from payslip to payslip – as supposed to where I feel I should be.

Working hard bringing someone else’s dream to reality

Working my ass off being a slave of another man’s cashflow system.

Waking up at 5am so that I can be ready to leave home at 5:45am, so that I can negotiate your way through traffic to get to work by 6:55am.

Start working at 7am.

Hopefully reaching my hourly targets.

Having lunch at 11am, and go back to work at 11:20.

Sign out at 14:00.

Sleep before 22:00 so that I can be up by 05:00, for the next 25 days, ranking up blood & sweat for that monthly payslip.

A playslip that will be used to pay off the debt dogs, to stop them from barking through my phone collecting what’s due to them.

For one more month anyways.

A cycle of working to pay the bills.

By being a slave to money I have lost my independence, and it is that loss that angers me.

Especially when I know we live with people who follow a different set of rules to earn money.

Answering to no one but themselves.

Protecting most of their hard-earned income instead of losing almost half of it to the government.

I mean wouldn’t it be nice to live life according to your rules?

Waking up when it suites you, deciding when & how you get paid?

A life (bad) debt-free life.

Heart free of regret when making purchases and being able to buy stuff for those I love.

This ideal had me searching, through books and audios, which led me to Wallace Delois Wattles (1860 – 1911) a Pioneer Success Writer, author of The Science of Getting Rich
