For this to be a happy new year (I use the words “new year” in the context of it being different from last year. We tend to celebrate even before we have conquered, I don’t know whether to call it arrogance or confidence…but I’ll go for the latter) one must focus on improving on last year’s habits.
Habits are just a series of actions you keep repeating.
You have come to do them so frequently that they have become so familiar to you, you end up doing them unconsciously. Now they have become a part you so much that you end up defending them. They now make up your belief. You have claimed them as your own, you have tagged them as who you are.
And since in life – like Dr. Wayne Dwyer puts it, you don’t attract what you want, you attract what you are – our inner beliefs (“A belief is only a thought you keep thinking.” – Abraham-Hicks) manifest into our outer habits and how these habits (repetitive unconscious actions) attract things to you, it is important to change your beliefs in order for you to receive “change” in your life.
Belief then Habits which are your Actions = Results
Pat O’Bryan says it best in how your inner game has to change before your outer game changes.
One has to invite one’s beliefs to change by adopting new habits.
The idea is to teach your beliefs why you are now adopting new habits – this is done through disciplines like autosuggestion in the form of:
- frequent written statements of WHY you want to attract your goal(s),
- carrying goal cards around,
- role playing,
- and even this mirror technique I’ve just come across from the book I’ve been currently reading
– so that your beliefs match with the habits you are persistent in your implementation of them, which in turn calls on you to take Inspired Action that produces Deliberate Results in your life.
By action I mean those small yet deliberate actions that you do everyday which will one day (idealistically one should have a timeline – depending in which teachings you admire most) produce the results you want. i.e. Ask yourself, “If you kept on doing the things you are doing now for the next 20 years, are you going to be in the same place you are in or somewhere better?”
It’s those kind of inspired actions I am taking about.
Life rewards action.
That’s how anyone gets anything new in their lives, they adopt new actions to invite the news in their lives (I mean “news” in the sense of “new stuff”).
So as much as I would love to say a Happy New Year to you, I just wonder if there’s anything New about this Year for you to be Happy about?
But you’re probably not into this personal development BS & you probably like most of us out there relying on having a “cross your fingers” approach in life. You know, relying on the luck of the draw to give you that instant jackpot prize towards the things you want out of life?

Are you any closer to your goals?
How can you measure success if you do not have goals?
How can you become successful when you don’t know how success looks like for you?
How would you know you have arrived?
When would you know to get excited and celebrate your success?
If you are still breathing, it is never too late to set goals for yourself and the plans, the steps you believe you need to take in order to accomplish these goals, starting right were you are right now and reaching for your goals.
Those small, easy to do, daily steps that when done with determination and consistency will make you achieve your desired chief definite goals.
